Carl Zeiss AIMax Cloud sensor now available for manufacturers in Argentina

The Carl Zeiss AIMax Cloud Sensor captures point clouds directly from the body production line.

Within the solutions offered by Carl Zeiss for inspection/control of online parts (inspection of 100% of the parts) we can find a range of sensors which will vary according to the application, type of part, measurement speed, precision, among many other variables. Among these equipment we can find ABISII for surface inspection in stamping, AIMax for dimensional inspection in bodies, and AIMax TWIN for Flush&Gap control in final assembly.

Regarding dimensional inspection, the most used solution in automotive clients and terminal suppliers is the AIMax Sensor

In Argentina, three installations of entire inspection stations have been carried out in the last 2 years, at important automotive clients.

The ZEISS AIMax Cloud optical sensor is the new robot-guided sensor that will be used in future body and sheet metal component applications, for 100% in-line measurement. This sensor generates a 3D point cloud directly from the production line and measures geometries very precisely in fractions of a second.

"Capturing a dense point cloud, the AIMax Cloud sensor offers the possibility of measuring multiple geometries, such as pins, holes, Flush&Gap, among many others, with a simple capture. The measurement setup is quick and simple. The result is visualized immediately after the 3D measurement carried out by the sensor. For the user, it is a very comfortable and economically convenient solution" says Michael Scheffler, Business Development Manager of Zeiss Industrial Metrology Group. AIMax Cloud can be used both in inline mode (100% control of pieces) and in atline (bypass of the line, with more exhaustive control every certain number of pieces). Other possible applications include assembly inspection and welding processes, among many others. The potential of AIMax Cloud particularly benefits the inspection of geometries that previously presented special difficulties to control, such as pins, grooves and feature lines. Its reduced measurement time makes the AIMax Cloud ideal for 100% online inspections. The optimized projection technology and high 3D resolution allows for fast, reliable and accurate measurement, even for very complex geometries such as those mentioned above or even painted parts. “Finally, the ZEISS AIMax Cloud sensor is the new 3D technology that will set the standards for inline measurement in robot-guided solutions in the future of the industry,” concludes Michael Scheffler.
